Kleinhans Music Hall – Eero Saarinen

Kleinhans Music Hall located in Buffalo, New York was designed by Eero Saarinen as well as his architect father Eliel Saarinen. The music hall is used as a concert venue. Most know for its acoustical excellence and design. The hall is home too many different events including speeches given at the hall by John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King. A lot of history and excellence in this building which makes it a great landmark in Buffalo, New York and a popular tourist attraction.

St. Louis Gateway Arch – Eero Saarinen

The Gateway Arch in St. Louis Missouri designed by Eero Saarinen stands at 630 feet tall making it the tallest arch in the world. It is made up of stainless steel and modeled after a weighted catenary arch. The arch also stands as Missouri’s tallest accessible building. A very beautiful monument to westward expansion in the United States and has become the symbol for St. Louis and a very popular tourist attraction with its breath taking size and sleek design.

TWA Flight Center JFK International Airport – Eero Saarinen

The TWA flight center at JFK International Airport in New York, is another amazing accomplishment for architect Eero Saarinen. The building was opened in 1962. The building once used as an airport terminal is now used as a hotel called TWA hotel. The building again like a lot of Saarinen’s work is very futuristic. The building as you can see in the picture above is actually in the shape of an airplane and its wings.

Washington Dulles International Airport – Eero Saarinen

Eero Saarinen is a famous Finnish-American Architect. The Washington Dulles Airport is an international airport located just outside of Washington D.C.. The building is best known for its amazing roof top, that many believed could not be held up by the columns underneath. We actually watched a video about this building in class. I am actually lucky enough to have actually been to this airport many years ago on a trip to Washington D.C. with my Grandfather. It is a very futuristic and sleek design, very beautiful.

Bizzell Memorial Library

The Bizzell Memorial Library located on OU’s campus is one of the most beautiful building I’ve ever seen. The outside has so much detail and artwork carved in the building. The inside an experience of its own. Plenty of late nights and hours I’ve spent studying here, and it will never get old.

Barclays Center

Barclays Center located in Brooklyn, New York is host to many different events. I visited New York over a spring break and attended a Brooklyn Nets game. The Arena has a very sleek and unique layout, as you walk in the doors you’re actually walking in at the top of the arena as the court is somewhat under ground.  A very cool and unique experience even just the once.

Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium

The Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium is home to the Oklahoma Sooners football team. Growing up in Norman this stadium has been home to many of my Saturday’s. The experience of thousands of people getting together to watch the Sooners play is special. Not to mention the architecture of the stadium is beautiful both before and after the remodel of the south side of the stadium.

Oklahoma City National Memorial

This Memorial dedicated to the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah building on April 19th, 1995. I was not yet alive when the bombing occurred,  but even today in Oklahoma this tragedy makes Oklahoma strong and a community like no other. The layout of the memorial is something that speaks of the remembrance of that day, with the times on the arches and the chairs in the yard. Truly a special place to go to.
