Bharat Bhavan is an autonomous open- air muli purpose arts complex and museum. The complex was built in 1982. The Famous architect Charles Correa who built this, used mostly concrete in the structure. The architecture himself favored using concrete and refrained from using glass or steel. The open- air courtyard is a unique place to be because it relates back to the deep roots of the Indian Culture.  The art center is located in Bhopal, India. I find this style of architecture to be very relaxing and peaceful. Imagining myself sitting in this courtyard, I think I would feel very connected to the spiritual world. I think that this style of Architecture was built to last and since the style is deeply rooted in the Indian culture, I don’t think this courtyard will be torn down or moved anytime soon. I find the concept and style of this architecture to be fascinating.

Sabarmati Ashram is open- air prayer ground. The building is located in Gujarat India. The hut was built by Charles Correa and has a lot of similarities and styles that are particular to Charles Correa. The open-air concept is very unique and is famously used by the architect. The material used to build this are wood and concrete.  Charles Correa was famous for using mostly concrete in his architecture and open- air concepts. Just by looking at this picture It looks like a small home, however, the back side of the building doesn’t have a roof and that is where the prayer ground is. I find this style of building to be so beautiful because of the freeing open- air concept.  I find this style of architecture to be very freeing and peaceful.

The Kanchanjanga apartments is a another architectural creation by Charles Correa. The building is located in Mumbai India. The apartment is 275 feet high and has 27 floors. This architectural design is a combination of brutalist architecture and modern architecture. This multi-family housing complex is completely made out of concrete. Charles Correa was famous for using concrete instead of steel and glass. The temperature is very hot in Mumbai so the position of the building is strategically placed so that the sun doesn’t penetrate the building as brutally. Also, the placement of the building helps protect the people from monsoon rains. The small windows provide small amounts of sunlight and are strategically placed all around the building. Charles Correa built this apartment complex to help living in this hot climate much easier.

Charles Correa is a famous India architect. He was famous for using concrete and rejected the cold steel/ glass concept of urban modernism. He often used open courtyards with no ceilings and used a traditional cultural style of architecture.  Jawahar Kala Kendra is a muli purpose arts center located in Jaipur India.  This architectural design is very pleasing to the eye and the open ceiling concept is very freeing to look at. I think I would find this courtyard to be quite relaxing to sit in.

The Oklahoma city capitol is a very beautiful building. The building is known for its pillar design and dome shaped roof. At the top of the building stands a 10 foot indian statue. I can remember taking a 4th grade field trip here and seeing the replica indian on display inside of the building. The building is symbolic to the history of the indians in Oklahoma. Every time I drive by the building I can’t help but stare at the indian on top of the building. This building is a one of a kind and I think very every oklahoman, Indian or not, really appreciates this remarkable historic building.

The Devon tower is the tallest building in Oklahoma. The building is relatively new. The building has a very modern sleek design considering the outside is completely all windows. This building is enormous and is used for multiple reasons. Many businesses work out of this tower. At the very top of the building there is a restaurant called Vast. I can remember going to this restaurant with a date. The view from the restaurant  is absolutely incredible. You can see the entire city from the top of the building.

The Bizzell Memorial library is one of the most beautiful buildings I’ve ever seen. The building has a lot of windows and has extraordinary detail everywhere on the outside of the building. The inside if very large and has multiple stories that are used for different reasons. When I first came to the university I can remember studying here. The first time I ever studied at the library I actually got lost. This building is usually crowded and people seem to really love being there.

The Dallas cowboys stadium is truly a remarkable building.  I can remember going to watch the cowboys play in this building when I was 15 years old.  The stadium is a giant dome but, what truly makes it a spectacular building is that the dome shaped roof is actually retractable. The roof can completely open so the entire field can be exposed to the natural sunlight. When I was at the stadium the stadium was relatively new. When I walked in to the stadium I was completely shocked on just how huge it was in person. I can remember looking up in the stadium and seeing the real sky above me.
