Jean Nouvel (Post 4)

This final building of Nouvel’s is the Doha Tower in Qatar. It has a similar design as the Torre Glòries except this building has a spire at the top, and a slightly less intricate design. However, this building stands out among its fellow skyscrapers in the Qatar skyline due to its simple design, many small openings on its exterior, as well as, once again, its lights that shine bright in the night time. The interior is quite a unique experience due to its many openings. The sunlight is allowed to seep in from every entry onto its white and light blue design which creates a beautiful image.

This building is the Torre Glòries in Barcelona, was completed in 2004 and opened in 2005. This building, based on first reactions, dominates the skyline especially at night with its massive height and and bright lights. The building is made out of many different materials including glass, aluminum, and steel. There are many small openings on the outside of the building which makes it have an even more complex design.

This is One Central Park located in Sydney, Australia and opened in 2013. I had seen this building before, as one of the group projects mentioned it in their presentations. However, looking more in-depth on the building I was able to see just how massive and ambitious of an undertaking this project was. It was able to combine the natural effects of the greenery attached at various points on the outside of the building as well as a modern and sleek architectural design of the building itself. One Central Park received many awards and is an incredibly revolutionary piece of architecture that provided ways to make a building green in both a resource and literal way.

Jean Nouvel (Post 1)

Jean Nouvel has designed a wide variety of immaculate buildings. This particular building is The Louvre Abu Dabi. It was founded in 2017 and is quite the spectacle. My first reaction to seeing this image as well as others from inside, was that it was a massive and quite serene building. Water flows throughout the inside, as well as a pure white interior. I felt pure awe seeing the complexity, openness, and scale of this project.

One building that has influenced me both in a positive and negative way is the Bizzell Library. It affected me in a negative way because I have spent many long nights here studying, however the overall look of the architecture, in my opinion, is quite interesting. I think that all the pillars attached to the building are a cool design choice. The  various statues attached to the building are also a neat addition to the overall architecture of the building.  When I first encountered the building, I was a bit overwhelmed by how expansive this library was, the various statues beginning right above the door of the building and ending all the way at the top of it, as well as the interesting nature of the architecture. Before coming to OU I had never really seen a building quite like this one, and it soon came to be a building I would spend frequent hours at.
