Blog 8 Part 2 O’Neil Ford Haggerty / Hanley Home

This is the Haggerty / Hanley Home that was designed by O’Neil Ford. I am amazed with how many windows that this place has! The amount of sunlight that is let in during the day must make this home very energy efficient. The whole house probably doesn’t have to turn on the lights during the day. The design of this house is also very modern and by far my favorite building designed by him. The inside is also very spacious and clean. This is what my dream home would look like.

Blog 7 Part 2 O’Neil Ford 3615 Amherst Avenue

This is one of the houses that were designed by O’Neil Ford. This house is surrounded by nature and seems to be one with nature. Part of the house hovers over the pond that sits right next to the house. It held up by two poles and is one of the parts that I found interesting about the house. Part of the house is made of wood so it blends into the woods like a cabin. This is a place I would go to relax.

Blog 6 Part 2 O’Neil Ford Little Chapel in the Woods

This is the Little Chapel in the Woods designed by O’Neil Ford. This building reminds me of the chapels that are used in most movies. My favorite part of this building is the stained glass windows and the lights that are hanging from the ceiling. The arches in this building are also very interesting. From the outside, the building seems plain with one circular glass window above the entrance.

Blog 5 Part 2 O’Neil Ford Tower of Americas

This is the Tower of Americas designed by O’Neil Ford. This building was finished in 1968 and is the 27th tallest building in Texas. I think the whenever I decide to go to San Antonio, I will need to visit this building. This building piques my interest because the top part of the building slowly rotates and features the Eyes Over Texas Restaurant. This building reminds of one of the water towers in Moore, Oklahoma but is far more interesting.

Blog 4 Foshan Ancestral Temple

This is the Foshan Ancestral Temple in Foshan, China. When I first encountered the place, I thought it was just going to be another typical temple that people went to pray at. After looking around for an hour, my mindset had completely changed. There was so much history to this place than I thought. One of the main attractions is the turtle pond that sits in front of it. It features two giant stone tortoises that act as fountains. Another exhibit that it has features old weapons and armor that were used back in the age of the dynasties. The picture shows only one of the roofs in the place. There are many other roofs that are as detailed as this one in this place.

Blog 3 Foshan Wong Fei-hung Memorial Hall

This building was created in memory of the martial artist Wong Fei-hung. I went to this place for the first time when I was in 8th grade. At first, I thought my uncle was dragging me to go shopping in bizarre place but when I got there I was fascinated. This place showed the life and history of someone that I watched so many movies about as a kid growing up. It even showed all of the movies that were made about him. There were also exhibits that were dedicated to Ip Man, Bruce Lee, and Jackie Chan. When I saw each of these exhibits, it brought back so much nostalgia. I wanted to watch all of those movies that I watched as a kid. This is one of my favorite places that I have visited in China.

Blog 2 Fred Jones Jr Museum of Art

Even though I walked by this building so many times in the last 3 years, I never knew what building it was. This building always piqued my interest because it doesn’t look like any of the other buildings on campus. One day after class I just went for it and decided to go inside and that’s when I found out it was the Fred Jones Jr Art Museum. The inside of the building was so interesting. There were some rooms that were made to feel like you were standing in the time period that the art was created. I was so happy that I decided to go in this building that day.

Blog 1 Devon Energy Hall

The Devon Energy Hall is the place that I used to go study at when I was a freshman. I love the architecture inside because of how the windows let in so much light and the main part of the building is a huge open space. When I first went to this building, I was amazed because this is the first building that I’ve encountered like this. Since I’ve discovered this building, I have been coming here to study because I feel like the open space allows me to think. This building is my favorite building on campus.
