Blog 2- The Physical Sciences Center

The Oklahoma Physical Sciences Center, also known as The Blender, is a truly horrible building. I’ve spent many hours there since becoming a student here and it is one of the worst buildings on campus in my opinion. The lighting in this building is horrible and the atmosphere is very depressing. In addition do how horrible the inside of this building is, the outside looks just as ugly  and makes OUs campus look much worse than it actually is

Gladvin George Blog #1 – St. Peter’s Basilica

This is a picture of St. Peter’s Basilica in Italy. I got the opportunity to visit different places in Italy and this was one of those places. Being there, I felt so humbled. I was standing next to hundreds of years of history and the presence around the Vatican was unlike any other. I had the chance to climb up to the dome of the basilica and the view from up there was just breath-taking. Seeing the basilica and the things around it made me feel small, like I was a part of something much much bigger in the world. It was just an amazing opportunity to visit the Vatican. While I was there, the Pope was addressing the crowd so that was something special, too.  The basilica itself was quite amazing. The detail and the grandeur of both the outside and the inside of the basilica truly stamped the Vatican as central to Roman Catholicism. Definitely, 10/10 recommend exploring Italy and visiting the historical sites.

Blog 1- Prairie Vale

Prairie Vale Elementary School was a huge part of my childhood and I spent a great deal of time there while I was growing up. In addition to this being the school that I attended for elementary school, it was also the school where my mom worked as a principal for most of my life.  As a result of this, I spent countless hours with the kids of the other teachers roaming the halls after school hours waiting for our parents to get off work and it still has a special meaning to me as the place I grew up at.

Blog 8 – Tom Wright (8)

Being the 4th structure designed by wright we have seen, it is clear that his design is extremely large scale, extravagant, and intricate. This is the Ad Astra Tower which is located in Batumi, Georgia. The external structure of this building has a  very strong exo-skeleton, made of a diagonal steel mesh that carries all the weight of the floors to help avoid the internal dimensions of pillars or beams. Wright is known all around the world for how large, beautiful, and unique his style of architecture is. It all has an extremely modern look and everything he has designed is a beautiful work of art.

This hotel is another structure designed by Wright and is built to showcase the shameless wealth of this Emirate. The Burj al-Arab with its unusual “sailing” shape is the success of a team of architects who had the task of designing one of the best hotels in the world for Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The hotel is located on an artificial island and is also a 5 star hotel.
